okay here we go
My car is running rich as can be. At idle there is a huge plume of smoke continuously coming out of the tailpipe. It is idling between 250-500 rpms, very rarely staying at any one point for too long. Sounds almost like there are some HUGE ass cams in there. When we give it quick throttle the engine dies, or at the very least wants to die. If we give it partial throttle it revs up just fine, however when we let off the gas the rpms drop to nothing, and the engine barely keeps itself from dying.
I believe I may have the bypass valve hooked up to the wrong vac fitting. Looking at the throttle body I have it connected to the left vac fitting, and I now believe it should be on the right one. Whether this will make a difference or not I don't know. Fuel pressure is at 58 psi with vaccuum. I didn't know it was supposed to be checked without vac, so I will do that tomorrow morning. I did adjust the JR FPR. It didn't matter which way I turned it, the fuel pressure didn't move and the thing stayed as rich as you could imagine.
I still have to retard the timing, but I wanted it to idle at least semi decently first. I do have one step colder plugs in there right now, gapped to .04in
also there have been NO cels as of yet and we had the car running for a while

I don't recall which sensor or two I blew but your problem was the exact same thing I ran into. I had wired something wrong and killed a couple of sensors. I'd double check your wiring and make sure none of the sensors are dead. I didn't even get a check engine light after the sensors were dead.

It sounds like you've mixed up the MAP and TPS connections. This is easy to do as the plugs are identical. Try swapping the them.

Have you tried loosening the banjo bolt assembly almost all the way? I had to unscrew the bolt ALOT before I got any drop in fuel pressure. There's a certain point at which a quarter-turn of the allen wrench will cause a MAJOR change in fuel pressure. You just have to back out the adjustment screw ALOT to get to that point.

swapped those and the car wouldnt start. My base fuel pressure with no vac is 70-80psi, at idle it is 58psi. When I adjust the JR FPR all i can do is increase it to around 90-95 but it will not decrease at all. I almost think that the JR FPR crapped out on me. I'll do some other stuff right quick here and hope that I can find out whats wrong. Hopefully it is just the FPR, I have a Cartech to install so it would be no big deal.
